Sustainable Soap

Sustainable Soap

For this final project in Contemporary Issues in Fashion, my group was asked to design, create, and market a sustainable product. With an interest in the beauty industry, we pondered how commonly used beauty products could be made more sustainable. We thought about what natural resources are being used as a dominant ingredient, and came up with the use of water, on both a supply chain level, and consumer level. Many beauty products contain water, and require water to use properly. What if we could create a product free of water, giving the consumer the option to use it without water as well? From those thoughts came the birth of our product, waterless moisturizing soap tablets, made of all organic ingredients.

Creating a Circular Economy

With this project, our goal was to lead to a more circular economy. Not only is the product saving a significant natural resource, but our product offers consumers variety. Our tablets can be used to sanitize, moisturize, and rejuvenate the body. Whether used on dry hands in the winter, a fresh face in the morning, or thrown in an evening bath, our consumers can use the product to fit their lifestyle.

Packaged in a recycled mason jar, customers may refill their mason jar with more tablets, or use their jar for other activities, such as a drinking glass, or a planter. We encourage our customers to reuse their jars, and prolong the packaging’s lifecycle.
